Palau

Blue Corner, and a marine sanctuary the size of France protecting it.

Palau protected 80% of its waters, and the diving shows what that buys. Blue Corner is the signature drift — hook in on the wall and watch grey reefs, jacks and napoleons work the current. Add German Channel manta stations, Jellyfish Lake, Chandelier Cave and a set of well-preserved WWII wrecks, and the week never repeats itself.

When to go

Highlighted months are when the diving is worth the airfare. Outside them, boats either do not sail or the conditions stop justifying the trip.

Before you book

Reef hook required. Getting there is a long haul from anywhere except East Asia.
